Hey lovely!

Welcome to my little corner of the Internet. I’m so happy you’re here!

If you’ve got this far, you’re probably interested in how I got here.

It’s a bit of a long read, so grab a cuppa, put your feet up, and let’s get personal!

Who am I?

I’m Jennie, and I’m a 29-year-old travel blogger from London.

In 2021, I decided to quit my 9-5 to become a professional blogger. Although it’s been a bumpy road, I’ve made it!

I travel full time with my boyfriend, Tom, and our next move is to backpack and live in Mexico from October 2022.

My blog focuses on supporting first-time backpackers on a budget, making travel easy, safe and accessible for everyone.

You can follow along with our adventures on my Instagram, or sign up to my newsletter!

Over the next 12 months, I’m venturing on an exciting journey of supporting and coaching new travel bloggers. I’ll be helping them (or you!) to live out your blogging dreams, and help you to turn a hobby into a full-time income.

If this sounds like something you’d like, make sure to sign up for my blogging updates here!

Who am I here for?

First things first, it’s important for you to know who I’m here for, and what I actually do.

I’m a travel-obsessed blogger from the UK, who quit the 9-5 life for a freedom lifestyle in order to travel when and wherever I want.

My blog helps the everyday, budget traveller to plan their trips, fuel their wanderlust and build their confidence to travel the world.

But that’s not all I’m here for.

Along with destination guides, travel tips and hilarious travel stories, I’m also here to help you live out your wildest long-term travel dreams.

To earn money whilst you travel.

To never be tied down to any location because of work again.

To live a complete and utter location-free lifestyle.

So, if you’re a travel fanatic like I am, want to tick off more countries on your bucket list, and constantly find yourself daydreaming about ways to escape the ordinary, you’re going to want to stick around.

Like I said, if you want to turn your blogging hobby into a full-time income, make sure you sign up for my updates here!

How it all began…

I used to think I had to live in the box that everybody put me in.

Parents, friends, even strangers – I felt I had to fit into the ordinary, salary-slaving way of life to be successful in life.

Travel, for me, has always been an escape from this life.

From a young age, I’ve looked for ways to live out my wildest travel dreams, whilst earning just about enough money to keep going.

And the truth is, I struggled.

I fell into the trap of believing I had to go to university, have a stable 9-5 and live for the weekend.

I spent nearly eight years of my life as a primary school teacher in London, knowing it wasn’t what I was supposed to do. Because I was too scared to leave the ‘box’ I had been put in.

Working as a teacher, I took every opportunity to ‘escape’. During the summer holidays, I’d work and volunteer abroad in places like the USA, Thailand and Europe. I even took a year out to travel Australia, Southeast Asia and New Zealand, with a bit of supply teaching in Melbourne to keep me from maxing out my overdraft.

I worked, worked and worked, then travelled, travelled and travelled. It was draining. I was fuelling my wanderlust, but it just wasn’t enough.

The truth is, working for somebody else didn’t fulfil me. It never has.

I’ve never been very good with authority, and when I finally realised (during a global pandemic) that I could make my own money in a creative way, a switch was flicked on that I don’t think will ever turn back off.

Just a few years ago, I thought travel bloggers and content creators were just ‘lucky’. I distinctly remember one of my friends telling me it’s only “rich people” who can travel the world and earn remotely. How wrong they were!

Never did I believe I’d be sitting here, the proud owner of my own ever-growing blogging business, being paid to travel, see the world, and helping others to do the same.

And the best thing?

Travel blogging is the best job in the world!

My journey with earning remotely

When the pandemic hit, I was at an all-time low. I was miserable in my day job, and I woke up unfulfilled every single day. And to make things worse, we were restricted from travelling, so I didn’t have my ‘escape’ outlet. I felt totally lost.

That’s when I knew something had to change. I couldn’t continue this way of life. It didn’t align with who I was, and I knew travel had to become a bigger part of my life.

I’d just like to say, I am not at my ‘dream’ destination yet, but I’m a lot closer than I was 18 months ago.

18 months ago, I was working a full-time 9-5 (well, more 7-6), suffering from burnout and exhaustion. I hated my job and was running endlessly on a hamster wheel just to get by.

Fast forward to now, and I have completely replaced my teaching income with remote work.

I am now fully location free with my blog and can work from anywhere in the world.

(And no, I’m not part of a pyramid scheme, and I’m definitely not going to try and recruit you to a travel agency).

So how did I do it? That’s what my blog is for! I’m here to help YOU to do the same.

If your wildest dream is to be totally location free, you’re in the right place.

The personal (juicy) bits

My life isn’t ALL travel and building my business.

I mean, most of it is, but I do have a bit about me, I promise.

🥰 In 2019, I met my soul mate, Tom, on a big green bus in New Zealand. We’ve been inseparable ever since, and my once solo/friend adventures have been replaced by travelling with my best friend at my side.

🏡 In 2022, we bought our first home together in Putney, London. We are currently renovating to put it on Airbnb for when we begin our full-time travels in Mexico from October 2022. Follow along here!

🌻 I’m a bit of an introvert, which I think was heightened by the pandemic. As much as I love socialising with friends, I also love getting cosy on the sofa with a coffee and Netflix.

🌳 I’m not a big city fan, and I’d be happy living in a cottage in the countryside with fields for a view. I love everything to do with being outdoors and in nature. Although, I’m ridiculously scared of heights, which clashes with my love of mountains. Total nightmare.

✨ I’ve always been ‘called’ to a spiritual way of life (I’m not going to force my crystals on you, I promise). But I love learning about our mind and the way we’re wired, as well as practising mindfulness and wellbeing. If I’m honest, I probably wouldn’t be at this point in my career without it.

🐬 🐳 I’m obsessed with the ocean. From boats to dolphins to paddle boarding and scuba diving, I’m obsessed. My best friend swears I used to do magic spells in the bath to turn myself into a mermaid as a kid (although I have no memory of this). My childhood dream job was always to be on a boat every day. If I’m honest, it still is.

🌎 I’ve been travelling on and off for nearly 10 years. I’ve visited 4/7 continents, with the last 3 being on my bucket list for the next 2 years.

☀️ Bucket list? Where do I begin! An African safari, the Amazon Rainforest and Antarctica are my top three. Hopefully, at least 2 of these will be ticked off in the next 12 months!

A final word…

My dream is to be totally location free, and to show others just how possible this is.

Some of us aren’t meant to be stuck in a stuffy classroom or office for nine hours a day.

The dream of seeing the world, experiencing new cultures, meeting new people, giving back to communities and living life to its fullest CAN happen.

For anyone. For you.

You just need to know the steps to get there.

And you need to have the confidence to leave the box you’ve always been put in. No matter how scary it may seem.

Through my blog, business and remote income, I’m working on my dream life every day.

This journey has been one of the toughest things I’ve ever done, but I am so glad I started.

Now it’s time for me to share, so you can do the same.

>> Psssst, I’m only a few steps ahead of you. This is ALL totally possible for you. Sign up for my monthly emails with remote income tips here. <<
